Discover Medellín
Nestled in the Aburrá Valley and surrounded by green mountains, Medellín enjoys an average temperature of 22 degrees all year round, and that changes everything: terraces are always full, gardens are always in bloom and outdoor life is contagious. Comuna 13, once one of the toughest neighbourhoods in the world, is now an open-air museum of graffiti and escalators symbolising the city's transformation. The Metrocable climbs to Arví Park, and squares such as Plaza Botero display the beloved sculptures of the local artist.
Two hours away lies Guatapé, Colombia's most colourful town, with its painted zócalos and the El Peñol rock: 740 steps rewarded with one of the most spectacular views on the continent. If you travel in August, the Flower Festival fills the city with silleteros, music and parades.
